The Scott Richardson Memorial Trust's primary goal is to educate, encourage, and develop aspiring hospitality professionals. Drawing on Scott's passion for optimising time, overcoming challenges, and pursuing growth, the trust is driven to create opportunities for young talent in the industry.

The Scott Richardson Scholarship will be an annual award given to a young hospitality professional who is currently establishing a career in hospitality and is normally a resident in Southland.

The scholarship will provide funding for the winner to travel to an overseas location to gain hospitality experience through carrying out a stage or stages. This will combine Scott’s love of travel and hospitality and provide an exciting opportunity for a hospitality professional from Southland to gain new experience and then bring back their learnings to Southland.

There will not be a set location, instead applicants will be able to design how they would use the funded amount as part of the application process. The application process will also include an application form and a reference from an employer/ tutor and finalists will be interviewed. The idea is that preference will be given to applicants aged between 19-27 but applications from candidates outside this range will also be considered.
